Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), also known as tapping, is a mind-body practice that combines elements of cognitive therapy with acupressure. By tapping on specific meridian points on the body while focusing on a particular issue, EFT can help to release emotional and energetic blocks.
EFT is remarkably versatile and can be applied to a wide range of issues, including:
- Anxiety, fear, and phobias
- Stress and overwhelm
- Trauma and PTSD
- Physical pain and illness
- Grief and loss
- Anger and resentment
- Depression and low mood
- Limiting beliefs and self-sabotage
- Performance anxiety
- Cravings and addictions
- Relationship difficulties
Why you would seek this kind of session:
- You want to address a specific emotional or physical issue
- You want a tool you can use on your own between sessions
- You want to work with trauma in a gentle, body-based way
- You want to shift patterns that keep repeating
- You want to reduce anxiety or stress
- You want support in developing your own EFT practice
What a session is like:
Sessions are done via Zoom, phone, or chat. We begin with a brief check-in about what you're hoping to address. I guide you through the tapping process, tailoring it to your specific situation. I will also teach you how to use EFT on your own so that you can continue the work between sessions. Sessions are typically 60 or 90 minutes.
About EFT:
EFT was developed by Gary Craig in the 1990s, building on the work of Roger Callahan and the field of applied kinesiology. It has been the subject of a growing body of research, with studies showing effectiveness for anxiety, PTSD, pain, and other conditions.
I have been trained in EFT and have completed advanced work in EFT for trauma, chronic illness, and social justice issues. I bring a trauma-informed and social justice lens to this work, recognizing that many of the issues we are tapping on have roots in systemic oppression and collective trauma as well as personal experience.
